Mission
Kinfolk Outpost strengthens Black community resilience through culturally grounded education, collective skill-building, and strategic resource development.
We equip individuals and families with practical survival, wellness, and preparedness skills while reinforcing trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility. Through our community-coalition model, we curate a trusted network of educators and partner organizations who deliver training across five pillars of self-sufficiency: Food & Water Security, Shelter & Infrastructure, Health & Wellness, Safety, and Community Power, Knowledge & Governance.
We prepare communities not only to withstand change, but to lead with strength, clarity, and collective purpose.
Vision
Kinfolk Outpost envisions Black communities fully equipped to thrive in an increasingly uncertain world—rooted in cultural wisdom, strengthened by shared skills, and empowered through strategic asset building.
While modern systems grow more fragile, the foundations that will sustain our communities are the same ones that sustained our ancestors: cooperation, practical knowledge, and collective responsibility. We are restoring these foundations in a modern, forward-looking way.
We create structured spaces where Black individuals and families can reconnect, cultivate essential skills, and build the confidence to navigate instability with clarity and resilience. We are building a model of Black-led resilience that is culturally grounded, operationally strategic, and designed to endure.
Together, we don't just survive—we lead.
Lakisha Porter
Chief Operating Officer
Lakisha Porter’s roots are Midwestern, born and raised in Detroit, shaped by a lineage forged through the Great Migration. Her people are grounded in church, military service, and a deep belief in stewardship: work hard, plan ahead, and take care of yourself so you can take care of others. That ethic, organizing, preparedness, and responsibility runs through every space she occupies.
Lakisha moves through the world as a systems thinker and builder. She is known for turning vision into action by creating structure, clarity, and executable plans. Following her military career, she transitioned into real estate investing and operations, managing multiple short- and mid-term rental properties. As Chief Operating Officer of Kinfolk Outpost LLC, Lakisha oversees operations, infrastructure, and organizational execution, ensuring that the mission is supported by disciplined planning and accountable leadership. Outside of work, she is married to Anthony Porter and is the proud mother of an adult daughter. She recharges through time in nature, sunlight, and shared moments of laughter with family and friends.
